Otaku Dream Nation is the manifestation of a passion both of us share for writing about anime .
The context behind its creation you might find funny or relatable. One sunny afternoon of April 2020, while we were bored out of our minds from the quarantine (but still expected to prepare for finals with no motivation left) , the idea pretty much came into existence as a way to push through the dreary summer ahead of us.
As a way to symbolize that our site was made by two very different friends, we decided it would fit that this anime blog focuses on the concept of duality.
Our tagline: “A dream land where the boundaries between anime and reality become blurred…” signifies that we will give our attention to the constant interactions between reality and fiction.
What fiction says about achieving a better world, how reality shaped fiction, such questions will always be the focal point of our blog.
As the home page suggests, there’s a heavy role-play aspect to our blog represented by our two mascots.
We kind of want you to feel like stepping in another reality where you can forget about your problems for a bit. Yeah, we’re corny like that, apologies in advance.
Since we both love Lofi to bits, we also wished to incorporate that aesthetic into our little corner of the Internet.
We have to cover Wicked City someday.
We also wanted the content we make to reflect that duality. The following will explain the different categories of content you can expect from us.
XGregZ will write more about things relative to the present and future.
The segment Survival Dream will be asking the scientific question “would you survive a certain event or attack in an anime ?”.
Quote analysis will be… well, where we analyze anime quotes (haha) and what we can learn from them.
Scientific Maniac is about the probability of reaching a certain anime world and of replicating something from a show with real world science.
Expectation/ Reality will have a similar goal while focusing on less hard scientific subjects like cooking, martial arts and history.
Meanwhile, TheInsomniac will write about things a bit more from the past with a hint of nostalgia. The Cozy place will be a repository for the most comfy scenes I’ve encountered in anime thus far.
Nostalgic dive as the name suggests will be where we review older shows.
Themes in Anime will be comparing how 2-3 shows tackle the same theme in different ways.
If you’re interested in how emotions are portrayed in anime, Animating emotions is the place for you !
Anime urbanism gives the spotlight to the settings of our favorite animes: the little rural towns, the big cities and the interesting communities.
In the segment Chill Nation, we’ll give a spotlight to anime OSTs we’ve enjoyed.
Furthermore, Lazy up to date is where we’ll share cool interesting things we came across during the month inside the anime community.
Besides that, you can also expect the usual anime reviews and top 10s from us too.
This is probably already the longest about section you have ever read. I really need to become better at summarizing. Although, I wanted to make sure you got what we’re trying to do since it’s a bit atypical in parts.
Anywho, have a nice day or night wherever you are ! Stay safe. 🙂
